Class trailer review: Day of the Dead

Name of film: Day of the Dead

Year released: 1985

Genre of trailer: Horror

Your mark (After viewing): 4/10

What happened in the trailer?

There's people in the cinema watching the Day Of The dead movie and there is a zombie in the audience with them. It's comical, not scary

Which positive, clever or interesting aspects do you think you could include in your own trailer? What generic features are fulfilled well?

- Idea of plot, zombies outnumbering us 400,000 to 1
- Doesn't ruin the whole movie, and we don't know who dies or survives
- 1 good zombie effect (Bub)

Which aspects of the trailer did you think were unsuccessful, and would put off its target audience? How is it disappointing?

- Cheesy voice over
- Zombie in the cinema makes it seem like a comedy/silly film, the full film is not like this at all and this is selling the film badly. The films target audience would be put off by this trailer
- There's no gore which is he best part of the full film
- Don't tag characters of the movie as 'cool'
- Cinema part is completely pointless, it's a waste of time and isn't in the movie

What was the trailer's average score in class? Why did it receive that mark?

3.5 - Mostly because it doesn't sell what the movie is like. Too dull, no gore, little action, silly voice over
