Class trailer review: Martyrs

Name of film: Martyrs

Year released: 2008/2009

Genre of trailer: Horror

Your mark (After viewing): 7/10

What happened in the trailer?

Torture/violence/death/ shooting. It's about a young woman who is after revenge against the people who tortured and kept her locked in a room as a child. She is joined by a friend, who was also abused as a child, and they seek revenge.

Which positive, clever or interesting aspects do you think you could include in your own trailer? What generic features are fulfilled well?

- Builds in pace - classic way of editing a horror trailer
- Soundtrack is synced and creates tension
- Fast paced
- Shotgun blast delivers good gore
- Letters helped with setting the pace

Which aspects of the trailer did you think were unsuccessful, and would put off its target audience? How is it disappointing?

- Letters are annoying and drag on
- Too slow at the start
- Which girl is which? Very annoying
- Too much of the story is revealed in the trailer

What was the trailer's average score in class? Why did it receive that mark?

7 - Pacing was good, however the plot wasn't very clear because of the confusion between the two girls as they looked simular. Letters were very annoying
